What is joseph bayly?

Joseph Bayly (1920 -1986) was an American author, editor, and publisher. He was born in Chicago and raised in the Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Wheaton College and later received a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.

Bayly began his career as an editor for Eternity magazine and later became the editor-in-chief of Christianity Today. He also served as the executive director of the Overseas Council, a non-profit organization that supports theological education in developing countries.

Bayly authored several books including The Gospel Blimp and Other Modern Parables, The View from a Hearse, and Psalms of My Life. He was known for his transparent and honest writing style, often sharing personal struggles and experiences in his work.

Bayly and his wife, Mary, lost three of their children over a span of several years, which he wrote about in his book, The Last Thing We Talk About. He also founded the “A Clear Word” counseling ministry to support families who had experienced the loss of a child.

Bayly passed away in 1986 at the age of 65 from a heart attack. His legacy has continued through his writings and the organizations he founded.
